The Fellowship of the Ring book club

Dear readers, today my friend Molly and I had a Fellowship of the Ring book club. We had already done a significant amount of discussion both in person and via text and phone. The main event today was watching the movie, and giving running commentaries as it played.

Luke joined us and got out the airbed for the occasion.

Molly and I sat in chairs behind him.

We took a break partway through to have lunch.

Luke and I reenacted Boromir’s death scene multiple times while the credits were playing. In this picture the TV has been paused on a flattering shot of Aragorn. Luke is super into Viggo Mortensen the actor who plays Aragorn, and wants women to call him attractive. At one point in the movie, he got out a spoon, pretended it was a microphone and asked me “Yes or no, is Viggo Mortensen attractive?” My reply was “No comment.”

Is this the movie where he says “One does not simply walk into Mordor.” ??

    1. Yes it is, although that comment is not in the book.

  2. I don’t know how the picture of Boromir ended up as a header. Sometimes I lose control of the WordPress site.
