Trip to Chicago

Dear readers, earlier this month, I had the opportunity to go to the Operation Christmas Child processing center in the Chicago area. It was amazing to see God at work through this ministry!

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry that sends gift filled shoeboxes to children around the world. The boxes are used as an opportunity to share the gospel with the children and their families. I have been involved with the ministry for several years by serving on the West Springfield area team, aiding with the collecting at church and packing my own boxes.

The processing center is where the shoeboxes are prepared for shipping. The first day the boxes were going to a closed country that they wouldn’t tell us. The second day they were going to Colombia and Philippines.

My job was to look through the boxes and remove any items that weren’t allowed. This included liquids, anything edible, medicine, war related items, breakables, and used or dirty items. The most prevalent item to find was toothpaste.

Most of the boxes were just fine.

One of the other ladies on the trip took this photo of me.

It was snowing!
